McLaren Park - Completed Park Improvements

McLaren Park - Bike Park Project

Completed October 2017. McLaren Bike Park Project includes a youth BMX/MTB dirt pumptrack, a beginner bicycle skills trail loop with ramp features, picnic tables, benches, a toolshed, and a porta-potty.

McLaren Park - Crocker Amazon Steps

Building new box steps and a handrail, enhancing trail structure, and removing hazardous trees.

McLaren Park - Herz Playground

Completed August 2023. The renovation of the children’s play area at Herz Playground within John McLaren Park is part of the Let’sPlaySF! Initiative.

McLaren Park - Herz Recreation Center Project

Completed January 2026. The Recreation and Park Department is partnering with the HOPE SF Team, including Mercy Housing and Related CA, to construct a new recreation center/gymnasium at Herz Playground.

McLaren Park - Jerry Garcia Amphitheater Project

Completed September 2021. Extending flat paved space adjacent to the accessible parking lot to allow for food trucks and other event services.

McLaren Park - McLaren Park Courts

The McLaren Park Courts scope includes a set of projects and proposed improvements at multiple locations throughout the park

McLaren Park - Park Playground & Group Picnic Area

Completed October 2020. Restoring a children’s playground at the Group Picnic site and removing the old sand areas.
