Crocker Amazon Baseball and Softball Fields Renovation

Scope of Work

This project proposes to re-orient and fully renovate the existing baseball and softball fields at Crocker Amazon to create six, new, state-of-the-art diamonds. It would also improve pathway lighting, upgrade and expand the parking lot, install batting cages, create a new dog play area, and add a free-standing restroom. The project will also include improvements to the pedestrian walkways, plantings and irrigation, and general park furniture, such as picnic tables and benches.

Background

Crocker Amazon has been a local and regional destination for athletics for many decades. A portion of the park was renovated with five full-size, lighted soccer fields. The other portion of the park devoted to baseball and softball needs to be similarly renovated. The San Francisco Giants organization approached the Department with a proposal to partner to install six baseball and softball fields with new, state-of-the-art diamonds and associated amenities. These improvements will benefit youth, high school and adult baseball and softball programs.

Funding

This project will be funded equally through a joint partnership agreement with the SF Giants and Rec Park. Rec Park funding comes from the 2020 Health and Recovery Bond .
