McLaren Park Community Garden

Funded by the 2008 and 2012 Clean and Safe Neighborhood Parks bonds, the renovated McLaren Community Garden includes a welcoming entrance with communal planter beds for herbs and trailing vegetables, sheltered gathering spaces, and ornamental fencing. The utilitarian garden is specifically designed to accommodate 41 raised garden plots.
Individual Plots & Wait-List System
Some community gardens are composed entirely of plots allotted to individuals with common areas for shared perennial herbs, native plants, and fruit trees. These gardens often feature regularly scheduled workdays and are managed by volunteer coordinators or steering committees.
Join the Garden Wait List Please Note: Due to high interest, you must be a resident of San Francisco to be allocated a plot. Some gardens have very little turnover, and the wait can be considerable. We encourage you to consider travel time and public transportation access when choosing which wait lists to join.
New Member Orientation
When a plot becomes available, the garden coordinator will conduct an orientation covering garden access, member agreements, and sustainable practices such as composting, water use, and waste removal. Orientation also includes introductions to current garden volunteers who can serve as mentors.
